la Maison de l’alpage (Pasture Museum)

The "Maison de l’Alpage" allows to discover the exhibition Itinerio on the theme "Agriculture and landscapes, the major transformations ".

La Maison du lieutenant (Lieutenant House)

In a building dating back to 1480 included in the heritage of the Valley and opened October 12, 2014, you will be transported and aware of mountain agriculture and pastures. Exhibitions, videos, educational learning path.

Permanent Exhibition MESALPES: "Mountain agriculture , Heart of the territory". Exhibit space and totally original interpretation. A living space and sharing a link between the culture of old alpine , occupation today and the challenges of mountain agriculture tomorrow.

Mountain & Rural Museum

A house dating from 1750 is home to the museum, recording the mountain way of life via the recreation of a traditional dwelling and displaying everyday objects in their original setting.

Temporary exhibition: " ZACHARIE , CHILD Houches , HAVE 10 YEARS IN 1865 ". From July 1 , 2015 till April 30, 2016

This year, the Chamonix valley 150 years the feast of the golden age of mountaineering. The opportunity to discover, thanks to exhibitions organized in Different cultural places of the territory, plusieurs aspects of the Valley in 1865 .

Tairraz House

A place of discovery designed on the basis of electronic and mechanical systems for a unique, playful experience through a long journey in the Alps from former times to today.

Mountaineering dates from a long time ago, but it has evolved considerably with new techniques and methods and with changing attitudes. As a visitor in this playful and educational space, you can get under a modern mountaineer’s skin through new interactive exhibition techniques.

Alpin museum

Situated in the old « Chamonix Palace » (the first of 3 palaces to be built in Chamonix at the beginning of the 20th century) , this beautiful museum retraces the development of Chamonix from the first tourists who came to admire the « glacières de Savoye » to the golden age of winter sports. An important collection of prints illustrate the considerable changes to the valley between the 18th and 20th centuries, but you can also admire photographs, relief maps, rock crystals, ancient objects, costumes and all that constitutes the memory of the valley.

Exhibition 2015-2016:
In the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the golden age of mountaineering, the Alpine Museum offers art exhibition from the collections of the Alpine Club and an educational trail to discover the history of mountaineering in the nineteenth century. From the beginning, the London Alpine Club wanted to « develop mountaineering and mountain exploration around the world and to gain a more thorough knowledge of the mountains, through literature, science and the arts ». They formed a large collection of paintings, prints, watercolors photographs...

Memory and Heritage House

The building was opened in 1828, when it was called the “Maison des Sœurs”, because it was built to house a girls’ school run by two Sisters of Charity of La Roche-sur-Foron. The school was closed in 1831.

This house is a centre for
- conservation of sound, oral and photographic archives collected by the town’s Memory Preservation department 
- highlighting memory and heritage through interpretative exhibitions and cultural actions
- consultation and research: a document resource centre available to everyone
- a participative project
